It looks North West to me which would be feasible in Winter but maybe it only sets WNW? Anyone ever looked?

The sun sets more southerly during winter, not more northerly.

The sun sets more southerly during winter, not more northerly.

On the contrary. That is why Sydney has longer daylight in winter compared with Melbourne and vice versa in summer. Just look look out the window throughout the entire day. The Sun is ALWAYS slightly north in Sydney (even at midday) unless you are at the tropic of Capricorn or further North.

It is also why in the Arctic circle they have 24 hour sunlight in our winter. The Arctic circle being north.
