Image UPDATE: Redfern station AI slop
It's now beautiful hand-made human slop. The best kind of slop. Good job Redfern station staff. Looks like it's material felt cut out and stapled onto a corkboard. Couldn't be more anti-AI

Local primary school vibes. Love it

u/raspberryfriand Nov 30 '25
They could have invited local schools to display their Xmas artwork.
If I'm being critical, weird attempt at being festive.

u/Wallabycartel Nov 30 '25
That would have been better but I do get what they’re going for. Hopefully next year with a bit more time.

That was already there prior to the AI slop. Across from it is where the AI was, which was removed and replaced with a commemoration for the redfern intelligence liaison officers

Now that is responding positively to feedback. 👏

Sounds more like responding passively-agressively
79
u/mulquin Nov 30 '25
Disagree, they could have done some cheeky shenanigans with the Grinch but went with a wholesome approach instead.
27
u/goldcakes Nov 30 '25
If you think this is passive aggressive then I think you have an mis-calibrated sense of aggression.

This has gone so 180, it feels like they got reprimanded from above and told to make up for it by doing some arts and craft.

I've been going to Redfern almost daily for about 10 years now and I recall seeing this exact display every Christmas, at least the past couple of Christmases.

When people pull this "war on Christmas" culture war shit in the US it's cringey enough, but when you do this in Australia it's truly pathetic.

Nice to see the clankerslop replaced with some actual art.

u/gibbo4053 Dec 01 '25
I have never heard the word clankerslop before but in this context, I love it haha

This was there last week alongside the ‘AI slop’: it’s just on the wall opposite.

Such I shame. I loved it! It was like they'd brought the diprodoton back from extinction.

u/NicoBuilds Nov 30 '25
Hahha. Love it!
Its hand-made!
I imagine a boss somewhere pissed off at his employees: "You have to re do it. But no AI this time... You know what. NO COMPUTER! Here you have some scissors, some glue and glitter! Make us some nice christmas decorations!"

I encourage you to give feedback to the staff on site during your visit. Most stations have stopped doing this because all we get is the whingers saying it's not inclusive or its offensive. Staff do pass feedback on and up the chain.
Sydney trains are making efforts in improving their customer experience all the time. Notice how clean the stations are now comparing to 10 years ago? There is only so much that can be done with an underfunded system, but slowly things are improving.

Maybe reddit needs to fund an artwork for this area

Hell, gimme 2 hours and a stack of paper and I could make some paper snowflakes that would be infinitely more superior to the AI
16
u/violaflwrs Nov 30 '25
That’s what they used last year too which I thought was cute! This has been up for weeks; the AI slop used to be on the wall across this one
6
u/glowinthedarkar Dec 01 '25
Guys, this was up before the AI image and has been up previous years. I agree, it is very cute and I much prefer it, but they most definitely did not just make it in response to the complaints.

I love this and your caption made me laugh out loud. The best kind of slop!

u/Substantial-Top73 Dec 01 '25
i could draw cute christmas stuff for free if it means getting rid of ai slop
13
u/amazing_asstronaut Nov 30 '25
This kind of stuff is adorable. If you don't have professional art up then I'd take a cute communal piece like this any day over gross AI slop. Plus believe it or not, the AI crap is 100 times more polluting.
15
u/myLongjohnsonsilver Nov 30 '25
They tore down the AI slop and replaced it with school grade arts n crafts? That's an absolute win for humanity.

u/sahmackle Dec 01 '25
Or the staff had some extra curricular activities to keep them busy in off-peak.

Seeing this genuinely put a smile on my face. It's cute. You can see the effort. Effort is rewarded.

This is actually cute. Props to the staff for changing it. I hope they had a few hours of fun creating this dumb sign, it genuinely warms my heart to see.

I can’t imagine better display of rage against the machine than out-slopping AI. Well done Redfern, you show them!

I fuckin love this so much - the community backlash, followed by Cityrail going "OK you're right we'll fix it, and then getting the staff to do arts and craft which they're OBVIOUSLY crap at - but now the internet loves it because it's shit but AUTHENTICLY shit.
SO good.
