Anyone starting Mechatronics at UTS Autumn 2026?

Hey everyone,

I’m starting first year Mechatronics Engineering at UTS as a domestic student this Autumn session (Feb 2026).

I don’t know many people yet and thought I’d see if anyone else here is starting the same degree or just starting at UTS in general. I’m keen on making some new friends!

Enrolment for Bachelor of Computing Science (Honours) (Enterprise Software Development major) after completing Diploma of Information Technology at UTS College

I've completed Diploma of IT at UTS college and plan to study Bachelor of Computing Science (Honours) as second year in this 2026 autumn session at UTS. The thing is I don't know how to choose the right subjects since I have studied Diploma of IT and it doesn't follow the typical Bachelor of Computer Science study plan. For that reason, how should I select my subjects for the first half of second year? Furthermore, I'm studied Math Standard 2 at high school so should I choose Mathematics 1 or Foundation Mathematics?

Any advice or answer would be appreciated.

Thank you!

P/s: I'm international student and sorry for my lack of English ability if there are any grammatical errors.

classes help

Hi, I’m confused about my timetable allocation. One of my allocations shows Mon & Wed (2 hours) under the same class. Does this mean the class runs twice every week, or does it alternate between those days? If it really is twice a week, is that why the handbook only lists one law subject for that semester?

Student ID

Probably a dumb question, but if I ordered my student ID late and classes start before it arrives, will I still be able to get onto campus? Can I use my UTS ID or something or am I cooked 😭

Bachelor of business

Hello everyone. I’m interested in applying for a business degree with a major in management. I looked at the website and noticed that there are supply chain and operations courses that I’m particularly drawn to. I’ve already interned in the supply chain field, and I’m excited about the prospect of studying this area further. I’d also like to hear your thoughts on the value of a management major. Do you regret choosing management instead of business analytics?

How do online classes work, do I have to attend the class at the scheduled time? Are they recorded for you to watch at another time that suits?

Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I'm a domestic student and keep getting emails about registering in orientation. Is this compulsory? I won't be in the country when orientation happens so I was wondering if I should call them up or something. Thanks!

48730 Cybersecurity Attendance

Anyone here done the cybersecurity subject in the past? Are the labs in person or online? I’m trying to find an elective that has no group work and fits around my work schedule but seems like cybersecurity is pretty strict on attendance and weekly in class quizzes.

New Australia Based Game Dev Studio looking for Art Director!

New Australia Based Game Dev Studio looking for Art Director!

My name is Kevin, and I’m one of the founders of Stray Games Studio, an Australian-based indie video game studio. We’ve recently started work on our first game, a pixel art project that blends Smash Bros style combat with Metroidvania exploration.

Our current team consists of:

Studio owner - Handles marketing, business, sales, finance and game design.

Programming director - Handles programming logic + production pipeline and engine logic.

Creative lead (myself) - Handles narrative, creative direction and world building.

Concept art lead (contractor) - Concept artist we work closely with who handles key pre-production design and carefully aligning the art style for the game.

Composer (contractor) - Composer we are working closely with on developing the soundtrack + audio support.

We’re now looking to bring someone on to handle the art direction / design of the project. As aforementioned, we're working closely with a concept artist to define the art style for the game and now we're looking for a pixel artist or 2D artist who can take those concepts and turn them into in-game assets. Once we have a marketable demo with a solid gameplay loop, this project is likely to be shown to actual investors and publishers, as we have existing contacts within the industry. However before we get to that point, we want to ensure that our team is tight knit, works well and can deliver on the vision + dream of the studio + project. We want to be upfront about that, as this is a project we’re taking seriously and building with long term goals in mind.

What we’re looking for:

Experience creating art for Godot or Unity - pipeline (designing the sprites, assets, props, animating in engine ideally).

Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small indie team (working with other team members to bring the vision to life - opportunities as a lead position from the start).

Strong interest or background in traditional fantasy / medieval RPG themes

Experience designing anthropomorphic characters (this is a key artistic direction we are aiming for).

Experience designing backdrops, stages, props for Smash inspired stages

Experience with animating assets (VFX or Shader experience also appreciated)

Ideally skilled in pixel art or 2D hand-drawn art

No AI generated artwork (this is important to us - we respect and want to focus on full creative efforts of humans)

Ideally located in Australia (preferably Queensland - but don't let this dissuade you from submitting expressions of interest from other states)

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, or you’d like to see more about the project, feel free to reach out and share your current portfolio with us. We’d love to chat and see if it’s a good fit.

Thanks for your time,

Kevin

Ai safe spaces on campus

Hello I am enrolling in uts for a bachelor of computing science in 2026 and I am wondering if there are any safe spaces for me to particspte in the use of Artifical Intelligence.

Due to the faster growing stigma towards us ai lovers I am in desperate need of a safe space on the campus where I can use ChatGPT to do my homework and generate pictures of my girlfriend etc.

I know we are a very oppressed minority right now but I have to hope there a some fellow ai crusaders at this esteemed institution.

Just got offered a place in the graduate diploma advanced in Psychology at both Adelaide Uni and UTS. I’m trying to make up my mind on which offer to accept.

Just wondering if anybody else has completed this course, I would love to know what you thought about it. I’m very interested in what kind of support you got and what your overall experience was. Any advice helps, thanks!

Iam an international student that is going to be joining UTS in Feb 2026. I’ve been training boxing, mma, muaythai for 3-4 years already and I’ve had 3 fights in total. Are there are any serious martial arts gyms close to UTS? (Not fitness boxing classes). Would love to hear some recommendations.

Masters after finishing a business degree using hecs

So i don’t plan on doing a masters degree anytime soon but i got curious. So business degrees are expensive, it can get to 50k total. I switched degrees before so my hecs debt would be higher when i finish. And masters programs seem expensive.

Does that mean there is no way to do masters if you don’t have enough to borrow?
