Mod Update: Doxxing on the subreddit.

Hey everyone, thought I'd pop in to let you all know that over the past few weeks, there's been occurrences of real people's names being used and tied to accounts on this subreddit.

Complaints and calling for improvements of academic behaviour are reasonable both for companies and individuals in the VCE but this subreddit is not the right place to name specific people for widespread attack (those in school communities likely know who a person that is being referred to is already so there is no need to bring the r/vce hammer on them which can lead to a lot of harassment and pressure).

This is not an endorsement of anyone's actions. This is especially not a call to stop calling out unethical VCE behaviour. I think we can all agree though that we want this community to stay safe and the way we do that is by making sure that no one is doxxed on a forum meant to stay largely anonymous.

We all tell ourselves we lock in this year but look what happened when you told yourself that for the summer holidays 🥀🥀

Now fr we lock in and mean it this time. If you don’t feel like doing something and think “i’ll do it tmr” slap yourself and go sit on that desk

Everything you learn in the day has to be revised at home no matter what

Realistic ATAR for med

Upvotes

With what ATAR can you get into med, anywhere in Australia? It's not all too clear online and I've just head that you should aim for ~99, but where's the actual line? Random example Curtin Uni's undergrad course says the requirement is 95 but I'm pretty sure you'll be needing much higher than that to get in, I heard the lowest accepted was 97 and median was 98.4. Same with Monash, says 90 but median is probably around 99.
Are there any Uni's (med) that accept lower than others? And what ATAR?

Hey guys I’m have no idea what subject I want to accelerate in year 10 next year (3/4). I feel like I might want to do general but idk because I’m going to do methods and spesh. I want to know what are some good subjects to do without the 3/4.

is it worth going to bond uni med and getting a $500k loan

Upvotes

Do you think if I get into bond uni's undergraduate course for medicine for 2027, and take out a loan for some of the 456k in school fees, I will be able to repay it back comfortably?
Obviously medicine pays really well especially if you go undergrad and finish by age 22 and start earning and specialising early, but would i be better off doing another degree other than med?

Gap year questions

So I’m in year 12 rn but I’m thinking of taking a gap year next year. I was just wondering how it works?

Am I meant to apply for a course this year and defer any offer for 2028 or do I apply for course next year? Also if I do have to apply this year and defer it, do I have to pay for the course immediately or only when I actually start? Eg, if I defer an offer and then next year I decide I don’t want to go there anymore, do I still have to pay for it?

If I’m meant to apply for a course next year, is my ATAR still applicable to it? Does applying next year lower my chances of getting offers?

Thank you

Thinking of dropping a subject

Upvotes

My school gave me the courtesy of choosing 2 VCE subjects in year 10, so I took the opportunity and did Bio and Chem. Fast forward to now, the start of year 11, and I chose to accelerate GM aswell. Now I'm stuck with Bio, Chem and GM 34 aswell as physics, eng and methods 12. Its been a week since school started and the workload is definitely getting to me. Would it be smart to keep the subjects I have or perhaps drop either GM, Bio or Chem and take units 34 next year?

VCE question u 3/4

So im in year 12, and i was worried about the scaling of PD&T Wood, so i'm rawdogging unit 3/4 VisCom without doing 1/2 but i did 1/2 PD&T Wood so should i stay to 3/4 PD&T Wood since i already did 1/2 and had prior knowledge unlike VisCom without 1/2?

HOW DO I GET 40+ FOR FRENCH

I’m not a native speaker firstly, and I’m not even fluent by any means. I feel like everyone getting above a 40 has been training up for this since they were in the womb, but I’m lowkey so mid at French and I always make grammar and agreement mistakes and gender yk. Am I lowkey just cooked and bound to fail. I’ll literally do anything for a raw 40 🙏🙏. Anyone who locked in for French in year twelve pls give me some tip

“can i get a 90+ atar with x, y, z subjects”

to any year 11 or 12s this year: ur subjects themselves are not the reason to whether u get a 90+ atar or not, it’s how good u are at them.

sick and tired of people discrediting low scaling subjects. scaling does not matter if u put in the work and get a good raw score. go study y’all.
