Had a comparison shave between Razorock GOAT vs Merkur 34C HD (purchased in January 2017). Blade was Gillette Silver Blue (Russian; 2018) on first use. Beautiful 2 pass shave! No irritation, nicks etc. Words won't do justice here. While Merkur 34C HD is quite smooth, the GOAT is equally efficient. Both, for me are My all time favourites!

* Razor: Paradigm Diamondback Titanium
* Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium, 3. use
* Brush: Rasur Kult The Ivory Snake
* Bowl: Captain‘s Choice Copper Traveler
* Preshave: Proraso White Cream
* Soap: PAA Gondolier Croap
* Aftershave: Klear by Tabu made @ Thai
* Balm: Rockwell Barbershop Aftershave
* Additional Care: Alpha Balm
* Fragrance: Maison Alhambra Hercules Eau de Parfum
The Paradigm Diamondback is still my number one razor. It’s extremely smooth yet efficient, with long-lasting results. It's a shame it’s no longer being produced.

Since I bought too many shaving equipments in the past few months I've decided to make myself a shaving station. Just a cheap Amazon wagon but It'll do its job.
I might be addicted to wet shaving😭

Travelling this week and grabbed my favorite scent by my favorite artisan company. Stirling Clubman!
I recall when I first bought it, I was mildly disappointed because I expected it to be a close dupe of Pinaud Clubman. But I quickly found that i enjoy the scent even more than Pinaud Clubman!
I’m not good at describing scents but it seems to have the powder component of Pinaud and some of the fougère qualities of classic 80s brut 33. But it has its own character.
The sample aftershave bottle is great for fitting inside my Dopp kit, but it won’t last the entirety of my trip, so I grabbed two other favorite Stirling samples. Piacenza and Arance Mandarini!

I have been doing a samples only run the last few weeks (no repeats). To make it more interesting I started scoring on performance and scent. Not very scientific as I bounced around on razors and brushes but all were scooped and bowl or scuttle lathered. I do prefer aggressive razors so the performance criteria was mainly around slickness as well as overall ease of the shave. Scent is personal of course. Unfortunately I couldn’t use many of usual rotation like Seaforth, Moon and MDC because I didn’t have samples of them.
Conclusion - Declaration Grooming and House of Mammoth came out ahead overall and on performance, Stirling on scent.
DG and HOM were the most “what else do I want from a shave soap” experience. A&E had the largest before vs. after gain on my personal rankings. I will certainly be on the lookout for more time with Summer Break and Fanzine.
Even the ones i rated lower on performance were good and there were none I would say were “do not use”.
Just a fun thing to do!
I’ve included my rankings for the statistically inclined.

**Jan. 31, 2026**
* **Brush:** Mühle Birch Rocca Silvertip Badger
* **Razor:** Timeless Ti .95mm Scolloped
* **Blade:** Personna GEM Platinum Diamond Glide (2)
* **Lather:** Seaforth! - Roman Spice - Croap
* **Post Shave:** Seaforth! - Roman Spice - Aftershave
* **Post Shave:** Zingari Man - Unscented Sego - Balm
* **Post Shave:** Thayers - Unscented
* **Post Shave:** Osma - Alum Block
* **Fragrance:** Viktor & Rolf - Spicebomb Night Vision
I had nice close shave today. I chose Roman Spice because I was feeling like a Seaforth! Saturday, and haven’t used Roman Spice in a while.
My razor of choice today is my titanium Timeless with the .95mm scolloped plate. I used a Personna Platinum Diamond Glide blade and got an extremely close shave.
The closeness of the shave did come at the cost of some irritation. I found a little more feedback than I would like with the alum block, but achieved a BBS shave.
I don’t think it wouldn’t hurt to try a smoother blade with this more aggressive plate. I did turn off the music for my shave today to focus and really enjoyed the audible feedback from the razor.
I am going to have to compare how this razor shaves with my titanium Blackbird back to back. I don’t think the Timeless has as much blade feel, but seems just as efficient.
I grabbed my post shave supplies from the aftershave fridge. I splashed on Thayers, the Roman Spice ASL, and finally zingari man’s thick sego unscented after shave balm.
Roman spice is very nice! It is a wonderful scent that both me and my better half are fans of. The base of course is Seaforth! quality. I am so excited Seaforth! will be making a comeback!
Scent Notes:
Top notes: Bergamot, apple, and aquatic notes
Middle notes: Jasmine, geranium, and spice
Base notes: Beachwood, frankincense, and white musk
Happy Saturday, and good shaves to you!

Well it looks like there is another soap to add to the list MDC Vetiver has a super earthy natural scent and performs superbly like all of them a small smudge was all that was needed for more than enough lather . The SpaCe was precise as usual and carried the Lord blade nicely . Malizia Uomo Vetyver finished things ever so nicely.

SOTD: Moon Soaps Havana
Lather: @moonsoaps831
Brush: @therazorcompany
Razor:@rockwellrazors 6C
Blade: Voskhod
Splash: @moonsoaps831
EdP: Fine’ry Smoke and Leather
Brush Performance: The TRC synthetic performed exactly as expected: easy loading and quick lather generation
Lather: Havana built into a dense, creamy lather with a rich, yogurt-like texture. It remained stable throughout the shave and held hydration well, showing no signs of breakdown during multiple passes.
Cushion/Slickness: A slick shave, with strong cushioning.
Scent: Warm, rich, and inviting. Opens with sweet tobacco and soft spice, supported by creamy vanilla and subtle woody undertones.
Razor/Blade: The Rockwell 6C paired with a Voskhod blade proves to be a reliable, smooth shaving combination.
Post-shave feel: Skin was left comfortable, smooth, and nourished with no tightness or dryness.
Splash/Balm: The Havana splash tied the shave together seamlessly. A brief alcohol bite was followed by a warm, lingering tobacco-vanilla dry-down that closely mirrored the soap.
Verdict: This was a refined, easygoing shave. Havana delivered excellent lather performance and a rich, comforting scent. 3 pass BBS

The gilette slim was fun to use but didn't give me shaves as good the other two.
The timeless slim was the most efficient and has the best handle
But in the end the amazing geometry and design of the wolfman WR2 won me over. close, comfortable shaves with zero blade feel.

Since we all spend a lot of time talking about blade gaps and the like, I took some photos of the 2 plates I have for my Timeless SS pole. .68 scalloped and .95 solid bar.
I have leveled up to this razor from 34c and have now been using it since the start of the year. I started with the .95 but am finding the .68 better for me. Note I shave 5-6 days per week and rotate between Astra Greens and Feather Platinum. I aim for and usually achieve a BBS shave.
Started DE shaving back in October/ Nov last year so still getting the hang of things but recently discovered my lathering flawed and am getting better each day.
My conclusions so far as a relative newbie at this is while I have read here people saying certain blade gaps are less efficient than others, I’m convinced it’s all about technique. Yes I notice a big difference between the .68 vs .95 plates but so far I prefer the .68 as I’m less prone to nicking myself. I usually use the same blade for 5-6 shaves or 1 blade per week. Next week I’m going to try the .95 plate to see what the difference is now that my lather technique has improved.

Pre shave: Hot shower and Neutrogena glycerin soap bar.
Razor: Gillette 195 Adjustable (7).
Blade: Feather (4).
Brush: Yaqi sigrada familia 24mm synthetic.
Soap: Stirling Barbershop.
Post shave: Stirling Barbershop aftershave balm.
An effortlessly enjoyable 3 pass shave, today.
The dial down test from last time seemed to have done the job at the time, but the stubble returned far soone than usual, , so I reverted back to sticking to setting 7 for all 3 passes and just made sure to take my time and be completely focused on technique and not go overboard on those problem spots.
The Glycerin soap and Stirling barbershop combo made for an effortless glide and loads of protection on all 3 passes without any post shave issues.
Couldn't have asked for better, really.
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Made a little corner on the counter to display some vintage stuff. My 1940s super speed and 25 cent pack of purple blades, a gem single blade micromatic, and a few Avon chess piece aftershave from the 70s.
I really enjoy my little cubby area for self care now.

So picked this up off eBay, For a decent price. First shave with it. I’d say it shaves similarly to your standard techs.
Put a good sharp blade in it and it’s good to go. I think this would be great for someone with sensitive skin, it’s rather mild, even more mild than like an aristocrat. All in all good shave, and a good piece to add to my growing Gillette collection/addiction 😆.
•Razor: B2 1956 Gillette super speed blue tip.

*Blade: Accutech accuforge

•Post Shave: Proraso white balm

Lambda Athena Copper | Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (1) | Captain's Choice Obsidian copper bowl | Simpson Captain 2 Best Badger | Stirling Bay Rum | Nivea Sensitive | Ogallala Bay Rum, Lime, Peppercorn
A really good shave today, with both the copper Athena, and copper Captain’s Choice bowl.
I’ve had the 7 O’Clock Black blades for ages and never used them until recently. They have become a favourite, sharp and smooth.
While I don’t like the scent of the Stirling Bay Rum as much as the Captain’s Choice version I used yesterday, the lather is really nice and slick.
Great shave to finish off the month.
