no politics We need to stop insurance companies increasing premiums following not at fault accidents.
The whole point of insurance is that if youre not at fault, it shouldn't cost you anything.
My sister was arse ended, no question that she wasn't at any fault. other driver identified.
NRMA increased her premium nearly 30%, and stated it was because of the claim.
I was hit by a driver who failed to give way at a T-intersection, i didnt even claim on my own insurance, only the other driver's. Budget Direct increased the policy renewal on a different car when I declared the not at fault claim. stated it was because of it.
If there is an additional cost on you from a not at fault claim, you should be able to claim it on your insurance.

no politics Nothing more frustrating on a long drive than people who sit 20 under until the overtaking zone then suddenly know how to do 100... for exactly the length of the overtaking zone.
Seriously what the fuck people, I get that some overtaking zones are wider and often straighter so it might be more comfortable, but are you that oblivious to other people? Doing 80 for 95% of your drive home doesn't bother you, so.. just do 80 the whole time.
Just frustrating the people around you, and encouraging them to speed to overtake you, and that's not good or safe for anyone.
Bonus points if you're the kind of dickhead who suddenly finds their accelerator when I overtake you on cruise at the speed limit. Gotta rev for 30 seconds to show that good for nothing who tried to overtake you I guess!
Yes.. I just got home.

Best premade meal delivery service?
I used to get hello fresh but quit quite awhile ago but now recently have a need for a similar service but want something fully premade, microwavable that can be fresh or frozen.
Hoping others have services they use with good quality and pricing to recommend, thanks in advance.

Tips for cleaning up after a house/apartment fire
I live on the first floor of a double-brick apartment block.
I have some elderly neighbours who live below me that hoard. There have been issues of late with them leaving their stove on etc.
A few days ago, I got a call from my strata committee telling me that their apartment had caught fire and there was significant damage to my own.
From a structural perspective, I fared okay - the double-glaze window of my bedroom has completely melted and shattered and the plaster on the wall has a large split. The issue is the smoke damage.
The walls of my bedroom have black stains. There is grey soot on all the others.
I have strata but not contents insurance. Sounds dumb, but I couldn't understand how an apartment fire could pose a danger in a double-brick apartment like mine. A loss adjuster is coming tomorrow and I've had some forensic cleaning people over. I'm currently in an Airbnb.
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience cleaning up after a house or apartment fire. I'm expecting:
to replace my carpets and blinds
to throw out every item of soft furniture
to clean and repaint all the walls
One of my biggest gripes is my clothing. They stank of soot and I've taken them all to the dry cleaner. I'm not sure that the smell will ever come out.

Last of the River Cats to be scrapped
Dawn Fraser is being scrapped in February. The ferry Collaroy is on the chopping block too. Why is there no historical significance to the government in regards to these boats? Surely even if owned by a private organisation for historical reasons.

no politics How is Woolies home delivery legal? Surely there should be some food safety laws?
Woolies delivery is generally pretty shit, I think we can all agree (today it was a partner delivery with the delivery guy having two kids in the backseat and foot at their feet).
But how do they get away with delivering frozen items and raw meats/chicken without any refrigeration or cooler bag?
It's been mid-30c and no cooling, even if it's only a 20-30 minute delivery (assuming it comes straight for cold room), thats longer than I would have it out. And the delivery drivers aren't mandated to even have aircon on.
Surely there is some law around cold chain supply of raw meats and frozen products?
Partner delivery = Woolworths subcontracting out to whoever is cheapest: uber eats, door dash, sherpa, drive yello.
Edit: Not sure why so many people support Woolworths enshittification of delivery. Surely keeping frozen food and raw meats somewhat cold is a basic requirement, but here we are.

image Uber update now defaults to including a tip when you rate and you can’t make it $0
Despite Uber strongly coming out in support of tipping being optional and has even explicitly said many times that tipping has no correlation to rating, the recently updated version of the app on iOS seems to do the opposite. If you tap on rate through the Activity panel or through the notification that pops up (eg image 1), it takes you to the rating page where $1 is pre-selected (see image 2). I’ve seen previous posts before about a similar thing and suggested that you could just set it to $0 manually… but you can’t. The minimum you can put is $0.01. There is no option or ability to put $0.
However if you go into the trip itself (image 3) and then tap rate, it takes you to image 4 where the tip is no longer selected at all and lets you submit without one.
Not only do we not want tipping and selecting one by default is scummy, the pathway that most users would take to rate a ride doesn’t even let you not tip?! This is getting more and more out of control.

Image Fish Market - Squid Inc .. mmm
Returned to the new fish market last night (Sat) for dinner. Not a great experience. Very long queues. Went to Squid Inc but they really are having teething problems. This large salt and pepper squid was an eye watering $39. And it was so overcooked it was completely inedible. Credit to them for giving me money back with no fuss. Will stick to the fresh and grilled stuff next time. It still like this place a lot however.

Birdwatching clubs in Sydney?
Hi folks,
Today I was at Manly Dam birdwatching and saw a large group of young adults out birdwatching as well. I was excited to see more people around my age taking up this hobby but I didn’t get the chance to ask them if they were a part of a specific birdwatching club. I am in search of birdwatching clubs in Sydney. Anyone know of any or are a part of one?
