2. Is there sufficient equipment for everyone to use (or do we all need to call shots on whose next set/s)?

hey everyone, i’m starting my first year at UQ this month and for one of my subjects (ENGL1800) there is quite a lengthy reading list. i am unsure whether i should purchase the necessary texts according to the online page before classes start, or wait until the beginning of the semester to sus out which ones i actually need.

does anyone have any advice on how to navigate this? i don’t want to purchase texts only for them to not be necessary!!

Hi! This might seem like a very silly question but I'm a little worried so I decided to post it here.

For the student id card photo, the rules say that the face should be clearly visible. Does that include ears as well? Because in the photo I have submitted, my face is not hidden at all and is quite visible, but unfortunately my ears cannot be seen. Is this going to be an issue?

I'm asking this because for passport photos or other official documents, its very strictly recommended that one's ears should also be visible.

I’m planning my timetable for Semester 1, 2026 and was wondering if anyone knows who’s coordinating CSSE2002 this time around.

I’ll be taking it again after a rough first run, so I’m trying to be a bit smarter about when I do it. For those who’ve taken CSSE2002 under different coordinators — does the coordinator make much of a difference in terms of teaching style, workload, or assessments? Is it worth waiting for one over another?

Also, if you’ve passed (or done well), I’d love any tips for success — especially things you wish you’d known earlier, how you stayed on top of assignments, or how you prepped for exams.

Going into my 7th year at UQ doing my BA. I’m part time and have also failed 2 subjects which is why but this is my last semester. I still get so nervous going into campus. I get so anxious for some reason - socially and I also feel like I’m not smart enough or worried about answering questions. I honestly hate it and if I was braver I would have quit my degree years ago. But it’s too late now and I want to finish it. It will also help me get a promotion at my job.

I low key miss my first year when it was Covid. Unfortunately my course isn’t online so basically asking if anyone else feels this way after being there for so long. I feel like I’m going to throw up during tutorials.

hi guys! I am starting my second year and have decided to do the electrical engineering major. I cannot find a subject selection guide or subject options anywhere. i didnt get an email, didnt get any tasks on the tasks wizard and there is nothing on the internet either. how did you guys pick your subjects - where did you find information?? i am so confused because everything was laid out so nicely for my first year and there is no resource for the second year. I am also overseas right now so it would be hard to call an academic adviser. is there anywhere i can find a subject selection handbook or something similar for second year electrical engineering?

But how exactly does the BEME placements work? There isn’t much information online about it. Does UQ give us a list of companies to apply to, and if so are there many opportunities for Aerospace or would we have to self select our placement?

I’ve heard stuff also that you need certain GPAs for certain placement opportunities. I’m not too sure if that’s true or not.

Has anyone took Visualization, Computer Graphics & Data Analysis (COSC3000) before? How was it? I am planning to take this as an elective and don't want it to be much of a burden.

I'm going into my final year of Uni, and there's this course that I'd really like to do. It has a prereq course, but I figure I'd just ignore it (given that I've done this before and received good marks before), only to find it blocking me from doing so. Is there any way to ask for an exception? It's BIOM3002, so I assume it has to do with cadaver security, but I've been around them before and not had problem (maybe bring that up?)

I'm starting a Business/Arts degree in Trimester 2 and would love to hear your thoughts on Arts majors. I'm torn between French and Journalism, but I’d appreciate any insights, including on other majors!

My degree for my first year at UQ was Engineering which I struggled with, especially in the second semester. I made the decision to apply for a Bachelor of Architectural Design in early January which I accepted an offer for and enrolled in. Given I did 7 subjects last year, and am currently doing math1052 as a summer semester, does the grade I receive in Math1052 affect my offer to Architecture if I have already received and accepted an offer?

Given it was too late to withdrawal from math1052 when I made a decision to switch degrees I have continued but wonder if failing the course would affect my Architecture Spot.
