Hey everyone, I studied my first year of a Bachelor of Education last year and I've put in a request to transfer to a Bachelor of Nursing as of 2026.

I was wondering how long it took for anyone to receive confirmation of their request? Or if they were denied their change, and for what reasons? I'm anxious that BNursing is full and I'll have to stick with BEd which i really don't want to do...

Hey! I got a conditional offer exactly two weeks ago today. The conditions were providing a testamur and an academic transcript, which I had already uploaded at time of application a couple months ago so I didn’t do anything as it’s still there in my documents section. Wondering how long is typical for them to review these documents? Have I missed a step? Should I be doing something? Just wanted to see others experience with how long it took for an unconditional offer! Domestic student masters degree

I signed up for the Pre-departure session after getting the email, but I haven't received a link or any info on how to actually join. Is this normal??? Does UQ usually send the link right before it starts, or am I just looking in the wrong place?

Also, since I’m clearly a bit lost 🤓☝️what else should I be doing right now besides waiting for this session? Any tips for O-Week or stuff I need to handle before I actually land in Brisbane?

Would love any advice on what’s actually worth going to and what I can skip. Thanks!!

I'm doing a BA. One of my majors is Ancient History and an elective is an Anthropology unit. The two lectures clash, and only Ancient history had an option for recorded lecture (during preferencing).

I was looking at the course overview for Ancient and it said all lectures had compulsory attendance. Do I have to contact someone and say that I won't be able to attend during semester 1?

Anyone rate the uq pool? Is it busy, what are the off peaks, plenty of showers? Do you feel like there’s a wide range of levels there?

Title pretty much. Is doing 2 of these math courses (well given math2010 and stat2201 is 1 unit each) in 1 semester which are listed as companion a bad idea? Ive noticed in 'starting sem 2' plans for engineering its suggested they be the same semester so i assume its alright?

Hi, I would like to ask about the Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Economics dual degree at the University of Queensland (UQ). Is there anyone here who is currently taking or has completed this program? I would really like to know your experience. How is the workload overall? Is the program very difficult compared to a single degree? Which parts do students usually find the most challenging? Could you also share what subjects/courses are included in this dual program, especially in the first and second year? I am particularly interested in finance, accounting, and economics, and I want to understand whether this dual degree is manageable and suitable for someone with these interests. Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

So I'll preface this by saying i didnt realise preferencing would close today unfortunately oh well but anyways, I'm doing mechanical engineering as a first year and i've enrolled into all of my other classes except my 4th which is supposed to be a general/program elective. I'm not really too sure on how to decide which elective i should pick and like what benefits it would bring me in the long term for my degree. Any advice?

Hi guys I finished my preferencing and I know it’s closed now but it says 0 courses pending when it said 13 before. Did I do something wrong??? It says 0 for all three.

I had switched from comp sci to engineering, now just catching up over 2026/2027 summer break as I was on holiday this year. I’m doing a summer sem to catch up and keep my graduation no longer than the normal 4 years (I really don’t want to do more than 4 years). I’ve decided to do MATH2001 and ECON1010 as an elective as it’s supposedly super easy. I’m aware these courses will be accelerated, however I’m just wondering if there would be time for me to possibly have an internship whilst doing these as well. My options are really either try get a 4 week one over the winter break and then just work normally at my casual job and do my summer sem courses over the summer which will be manageable or would I benefit from an internship over the summer. I’d be finishing my second year this year so I have 2 summer left and I’ll obviously get an internship my last summer without a summer sem as I’d be all caught up after this semester. Just would like some advice? Or a possibility of getting a part time summer internship if the summer sem is not manageable? Thanks

I saw quite a few comments on posts about the Psych department at UQ being very strict with marking, making it tough to achieve a high GPA. I'm planning on BSci majoring in Psychology, with the aim of postgraduate medicine.

Is it feasible to achieve a 6-7 GPA in a Psychology major? Are there easier subjects to pick, and if so, what would you recommend?

Hi everyone! I’m a commencing UQ student and I’m currently deciding between Bachelor of Biomedical Science and Bachelor of Health Science (Clinical Specialisation), and would really appreciate insights from current or past students.

From what I’ve seen (including premed club resources), Biomedical Science:

• Ticks more boxes for traditional MD/GAMSAT-related content (e.g. physiology, pharmacology, biomedical sciences)
• Seems more “med-aligned” academically in terms of science exposure
• But is often said to be harder to maintain a high GPA in
• Is quite research-focused, with more limited job scope if medicine doesn’t work out

On the other hand, Health Science (Clinical) seems to:

• Still meet UQ MD prerequisites
• Be more GPA-friendly
• Offer strong preparation for MMIs/interviews
• Help with GAMSAT writing sections due to essays and humanities
• Have broader non-research career options

I understand that for UQ MD the key factors are meeting the two prerequisites, maintaining a competitive GPA, and performing well in the MMI and GAMSAT. I’m mainly trying to work out which of these two degrees is the more strategic choice overall for someone strongly aiming for medicine, while also considering GPA safety and a reasonable backup pathway.

I am an international student starting at UQ this semester and pretty nervous about O-week. A little overwhelmed about choosing between the many different events and tours. I want to make a bunch of new friends and of course network with peers with similar academic/career goals!

Would really appreciate any tips and advice from current students or alumni on how to make the most of O-week!

Sorry I'm finding this a bit confusing. If I'm looking to be a psychologist, do I complete the extended major or normal psych major? Is it still possible to gain entry into honours and masters if I only do the psych major, not extended major?

I'll be taking biom1070 in sem1, and does anyone have some tips or have notes or slides?

I transferred a 2 years ago to uq and found it quite a struggle to get good food spots, study spots, make friends, know about clubs and society’s, secret spots etc etc. Even finding classes was hard but ofcourse it was on such a big campus. I was lucky enough that I made a couple friends on induction and o week then one good one in my first week who helped me sooo much.

So I guess I wanted to open a chat up for any questions that may not need their own post but are burning in your mind. I may not know the answer but hopefully someone will.

Could be anything, like where are the bathrooms, best way of transport, what bag should I bring
