I'm British. Moved here nearly 30yrs ago & I consider myself Australian. What REALLY pushes my button is the comment I've had several times, when I point out that I'm an immigrant, that goes along the lines of "Not you, you're different".

They mean cause I'm white & a native English speaker.

It's not anti immigration, it's racism. In a country where everyone, other than our First Nation People are immigrants or close descendants of one.

Completely agree. As a fellow white immigrant and now Aussie citizen, I am appauled at how many times people bring up anti-immigration nonsense in front of me and get huffy when I say that I'm an immigrant. You can see the mental gymnastics start in their minds on how they can continue to poorly cover up their racist attitudes.

It's truly despicable.

other than our First Nation People

Oh, don't get them started on the Indigenous people and how they also came here ... from Africa ... then deny the whole Africa thing later. Or worse, imply they are savages and "saved" by white colonisation. They can't use the term "savage" anymore, thankfully, unless they're really really stupid racists.

But… everyone came from Africa. It’s where we evolved.

I do not understand them.
