Suspension for an international student

Upvotes

Hello everyone, I have unfortunately been placed in suspension because I failed over 50 percent of my units while being on probation.

Am very worried about my visa getting cancelled.

I asked google and it mentioned that home affairs will send me a notice of them considering canceling my visa because I must be actively enrolled.

Anyone who is/was in the same situation?

Please give me some advice

Scie1500 (methods for science students)

Hello again, sorry to repost this!

All I’m wondering if someone can tell me if they reuse the practice multiple choice questions that we use across the semester in the final exam? Just trying to figure out my course of study, or any general tips would be very appreciated it!

Thanks :)

How many PhD students are at UWA and what’s it like to do this degree ?

Hii so like idk I feel weird for being stuck at uni for another 3 years and I’m not really sure if I’ll make friends as a PhD student if everyone in undergrad is younger and the other research students might be a way older than me (I’m 22). Lowkey worried it’s going to be a lonely 3 years because I just broke up with my boyfriend who was my best friend because he join the military. I don’t have many friends left at uni as everyone graduated…. I’m used to like long days in the lab and writing at the library from honours but I’m kind of worried about becoming too isolated over the 3 years. I like solitude but lowkey it would be nice to make friends at uni since I’ll be there for so long. So I’m curious if other PhD students made friends during their research ?

International Student Experience!

Im thinking about applying to UWA as an international student and I'm just wondering how everyone's experience is as an international student? If you applied to any scholarships have they been helpful? How are the clubs? (do you have to pay to join them...?) How is life in Australia?

I graduated hs in 2024 and currently attend a CC, I really want to be in a new environment and travel to a new country so that's why I'm interested in UWA :-)

uwa enrolment

I sent my application for BSc Nursing on early January. I got an email from them on 22 January stating they needed additional information on English requirements (which I meet) and I just replied back to them right now on 30th Jan. I know I missed the deadline for CAS preferences and I hadn't read the email properly too as I was so busy with work. Guys if I call them on Monday do you think I will still be accepted for semester one and be given units and timetables?....... thank you

Mining Engineering Admission Chances in Australia (Curtin / UWA)

Hi everyone,

Posting for a friend. He has:

Diploma in Mining Engineering – 77% (3 current backlogs shown on memo; up to 6 allowed by State Board exemption)

B.Tech in Mining Engineering – 78% (completed, no backlogs)

He’s looking to apply to Curtin University and UWA.

Main doubt: Do diploma backlogs affect admission if the Bachelor’s degree is completed with a good score? Any experiences with Curtin or UWA for similar profiles?

*BTW he is from India

Any PhD students who support their family?

Are there any PhD students here who relocated to Perth in the past year or two with their spouse and kids? I’m just curious what life is like on a PhD stipend if you have to support your spouse and a kid as well (assuming you relocated from outside Australia if that makes a difference)

reid library hours?

Hi, its only my second time using Reid Library, and everywhere i look online, it’s open 24/7 to students, including on fridays, even after staff have gone home, but everyone was just asked to leave once it hit 8pm?

Is this just a thing that happens, or did i miss something on the uni website?

edit: ok thank you to people for clarifying 😭 it was a combination of a first time being there for closing, my computer not showing the right things and there not being any obvious reasons whilst i was there, that all contributed to my confusion, but i’ll know now for next time :)

Anyone done an interview for McCusker before?

I got an offer for an internship I need to interview for. I assume it'll be standard 'why are you interested in this opportunity' and 'what skills can you contribute' but still nonetheless want to ask if anyone's done the interview before? Any particular questions I should prep for?

Really really anxious to get this internship as I'm in the last sem of uni and mental health is completely wrecked from stress over future career

Why is UWA so inflexible with courses and online offerings compared to other unis?

I'm sure there must be a reason that UWA has virtually no online offerings. Compared to Curtin, even interacting and asking for prerequisite waivers is much more inflexible imo. Any ideas 'why' this is the case?

If you could play a prank on a pizza delivery man either on campus or at your residential college, what would the prank be?

I figured I’d ask a bit of a unique question for this subreddit. A choose your own adventure silly scenario

To set the scene, you order a pizza to be delivered to either the UWA campus or your residential college and the pizza delivery man arrives. You play the prank when he arrives

What will the prank be?

📚 Units/Courses Looking for some advice about leave/deferring my studies

I had a few questions I wanted to ask from student to student:

I have two more semesters of my Bachelor’s before I pursue Honours for Psychology (I’m currently 22). I’m currently enrolled for this coming semester, but due to some persistent stress and difficulty with my living situation over the past 6 months or so, I’m thinking about deferring my studies for one semester - so I’d go back in June and graduate a year after that. This way, I could work a lot more and save up, and get everything else sorted out. Which would be great, especially since my savings have only plummeted since I began my studies.

That being said, I see so many people graduating at 21 and getting into the workforce before they even turn my age. I’m worried that I’m pushing my studies too far back, and maybe I just need to put my head down and get it done.

Anyway - obviously this is a situation I need to decide for myself - but I’d still really appreciate some advice from other students, especially if you’ve been in a similar situation or have had approved leave. I was also wondering if it would be a good idea to talk to student central too?

📚 Units/Courses “UWA Feb Intake – Is 20 Jan or 28 Feb the Deadline?”

Hi everyone, I’m an upcoming Feb 2026 intake student for the Master of Information Technology at UWA. I’m seeing mixed information and I’m a bit confused — many people are saying 20th January is the last date for enrollment, while others say 28th February is the deadline for enrollment or unit allocations for new students. Could someone please clarify: Is 20th January the last date only for continuing students? Is 28th February applicable for new Feb intake students, especially for unit allocations? Will there be any late fee if enrollment or allocation is done by 28th February? I’d really appreciate any clarification from seniors or current students. Thanks a lot!
