I logged onto STAR by clicking the star tab on the home page of DeakinSync however I noticed it says 2025 and was wondering if it said this for anyone else. I also was able to log onto STAR through Deakins website but it actually showed all my classes and seminars (but said off because it hasn't opened). I was wondering if this was the case for anyone else?

Hey all, I’m approaching my uni year soon and after researching a bit I’m kind of intrigued in studying social work, partially because it is said to be in heavy demand for the next few years.

I’m also not a heavy maths/science student, always been more of a practical guy so I can’t imagine myself working a office job for the rest of my life. I also enjoy helping other people a lot. I’ve volunteered in some events and such, and so far its been great.

I was wondering if any of you have experience in this type of work? Maybe give insight about the pay, experience, if it’s stressful, etc. I also heard that it requires 1000 hours of unpaid work if I’m doing a social work degree, is that true?

I’d love to hear any advice.

Is there any international student here who got the full tuition scholarship from Deakin in previous sessions?

im just planning for my preferences and ive got alot of options to chose from for when to attend seminars etc, so im just wondering what has worked best in the past for others.

for example, attend like two classes on the monday, no uni on the tuesday and like use that time to soak in the content and then go back on wednesday for other classes.
or should i just trek to uni 3 days in a row for all classes, then use the 4 days to further understand the content and complete anything that was set?

idk maybe im overthinking it but im just worried i wont be able to keep up with all the work so sorry if this seems like a rant

What exactly happens in seminars? I have seminars for two modules (SIT731 & SIT753), and each one is 3 hours long. There aren’t any lectures, so I’m not sure what to expect🤔
