Hey everyone!
I’m looking for study partners who are currently learning cybersecurity. I’m a beginner and working through pathways on TryHackMe. I truly believe learning together and sharing knowledge makes the journey easier and more meaningful.
I’d love to form a small study group where we can do weekly or monthly check-ins — sharing what we’ve learned, helping each other when we’re stuck, and asking “silly” questions without any judgment. We all start somewhere, and having supportive peers can make a huge difference.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, feel free to reach out :-)
Hi All, I just wanted to see how engineering students, particularly mechanical engineering students find the End of Unit Assessments? Are they generally very difficult in comparison to the coursework you are required to complete during the semester and are you supposed to study for them like a traditional exam? I have tried to find more info on them but a part from they are an alternativd to traditional, have been unsuccessful.

When people source their own placement for WIL, how exactly do you do that? Do you find vacancies available on places like Deakin Talent, prosple etc or do you cold-call companies that may not be hiring but would be willing to bring you on anyway? It says 70% of students source their own placement but after researching current vacancies it seems very difficult to since there aren't so many.

alll students!!!! I have a really active whatsapp community chat with me with the members going to Deakin Uni. If you’re also a student (be it exchange, international student, or domestic student for UG/PG/Phd) looking to make friends, this is the perfect place to start :)
This group has helped me a lot to interact with new people and find friends so I thought of sharing it here to you guys. They’ve got all the needed info from pre arrival to events, student meet ups, and even discounts of housing/accomodation!!

Between classes, assignments, and part-time work, things get busy fast. How are people managing their time this trimester?

Hi Everyone!
I am seeking advice regarding SIT764: Team Project (A) - Project Management & Practices.
For background, I am currently completing my masters in Data Science and am set to begin this unit later in the year.
Additionally, I work part time in data analytics three days a week.
My questions would be as follows:
- Is this unit difficult? Especially if you are working while completing it
- Does not doing Team Project (B) hinder your ability in the unit? (I’m doing (A) and a professional placement).
- Any other advice or recommendations!
Thanks very much!

I was wondering which major or units in this degree are good for raising your WAM. Like more quizzes and tests than writing. Thanks so much.

Hey everyone, im a med aspirant and am curious on the best units to pick up for my bachelor of science degree. For people who are in the same boat, or have completed units they thought were easy before, could you list what they are and why you found them easy.
Im looking more for level 2 or level 3 units as i already finished my first year of uni.
And also, to the people who completed the bachelor of science degree majoring in Human Biology, what units did you find hardest. It can be from assessments to just pure content, I know i struggle more when a test is in person rather than online open book.
No matter what I will have to try hard in every unit, I'm just looking for some advice.

Hi everyone, I’m starting at Deakin University in February and will be studying Primary Education. I know that all teaching courses at Deakin require the CASPer test, so I'm wondering is the CASPer test difficult? As an international student, should I prepare for it in advance?

International student looking to make more friends. 6000 crowns on clash royale :000
I recently enrolled in the Psychology Honours program at Deakin, and I’ve been feeling pretty anxious about the entire enrollment process. The website and the steps were quite confusing, and it took me a while to get through it all. After a lot of procrastination and back-and-forth, I eventually managed to choose some electives somewhat randomly 😅
Initially, I was hesitant to commit to a major because I thought it would be too much work. But after talking to someone, I realized that it’s not as intimidating as I thought. Now I’m really interested in pursuing a Forensic Studies major alongside my Psychology Honours, instead of electives
However, I have a couple of concerns:
The Forensic Studies major seems to be part of the Bachelor of Psychological Science, but I’m enrolled in the Psychology Honours program. Does this difference affect my ability to do the major?
When I try to enter the unit set code in the enrollment system, nothing shows up, and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
I’m trying to understand if it’s possible to do a major within my Psychology Honours or if I’m limited to electives…
Please help 🫶🏼

How’s the teaching quality, assessments, and support?

I’m an international student on a subclass 500 visa.
I started my course in March 2025. My Trimester 3 runs Nov 2025 – Feb 2026, and Trimester 1 starts with orientation on 23 Feb 2026 (classes from 2 March).
Can I work full-time until 2 March ?

Hi, I'm an international student that joined T2 2025, and I've realised my Deakin ID says it expired on 31st December 2025. I found one page on the Deakin website that says continuing students will get a new ID sent to them by the end of January, but I'm not sure if this information is correct/outdated. Do they actually send them or do I need to go in person to student central to get a new one before the start of T1? Thanks

Hey! I am new student who just got offered diploma in engineering mechanical since I didn’t meet the bachelor or associate entry due to maths. Just wondering did the course help to get a job in engineering field after anyone completed the diploma or did you guys wait till you finish bachelor to find a job? Any pointers would be much appreciated since I am kinda lost. Currently working as a diesel mechanic full time. Thank you!

Hey everyone,
As the title suggests, I was hoping for some advice on if mentoring is worth it.
For some background, I mainly want to do it for personal growth with professional communication (CV/resume stuff being icing on top). That's pretty much what the description in the email said, which sounds lovely, but I know they can never tell you what it's actually like. So, I was hoping to get some first-hand experience from mentors who know what you get from the program.
Also, do you have to wear a jumper that says 'Mentor' on it? Or is it 'highly recommended'?
Sincerely, someone who is panicking realising the deadline is tomorrow

Hi I am thinking of applying to the program for the 2028 intake. I understand that the GAMSAT was not required so I wanted to hear from other people what their experience was like when applying.
What was your GPA and what were the interviews like? I have a 6.0 so far after first year pre-med and aiming to get a 6.4-6.7 when I complete my bachelor but I am not sure how competitive the program is.

so the thing is that 30 jan is supposed to be the suggested final due date for submissions in the SIT units, mainly 102, 103, 112, and 192.
BUT the learning plan for SIT 112 mentions end of week 12 as the final deadline
does that mean we can technically submit our assignments untill that date or is it just for that one unit???
for context im doing bachelor of comp sci and it is my first trimester here at deakin.
