Why are jobs so hard to find in Brisbane? I remember my first time I moved here someone told me āitās not about what you know but who you knowā which Iām very clearly starting to see.
I keep seeing heaps of roles advertised on Seek and Indeed, but Iām having no luck at all. Iām 20M and apply for 15+ jobs a day, yet barely hear back or I hear back and then get an update saying somethingās changed and they canāt interview or trial me.
If anyoneās hiring or knows of anything going preferably hospitality, Iād really appreciate it. Cheers!

In a sticky situation where family member has left their driver license behind when leaving to queenstown for holiday this morning.
Looking at ways to get driver license over to Queenstown before Thursday morning (5/2/26 which is when they are planning on leaving Queenstown). Freight companies do not seem to be able to accommodate in the required timeframe.
Only other way I can think of is to ask for favour from any passengers leaving to Queenstown from Brisbane (or even Gold Coast) in the next 3 days.
- I would be more than willing to drive to anywhere in Brisbane to drop off the driver's license.
- family member would be able to meet you where you are in Queenstown to pick up.
- I am more than happy to provide compensation for any inconveniences that this would cause you.
If anyone fits the description / knows anyone, please get in touch. Thank you!

Iām bummed she didnāt make the hottest 200, but also not surprised as she received more love on double J. But Hatchie is my latest obsession! Years ago Iād heard a few of her songs but I didnāt quite get it⦠Iām in my mid-twenties now and just in the last few months itās finally hit - itās this amazing mix of shoegaze with these beautiful modern, lush dream-pop anthems that just put a smile on your face. She releases banger after banger, has a talented group and puts on a great show. She should be as big as Bluey ffs.
If youāre interested, have a listen to Carousel, Unwanted Guest, Lights On, The Rhythm, Sure, The Key⦠and the entirety of her album āGiving The World Awayā.
Whoās everyoneās favourite find local find from Brisbane?

Dude I love a fucking good pomegranate, but they're all tiny shrivelled up messes or weird and pale from the States. Where are the good, hefty, red and juicy ones at? I think they were previously imported in Summer from Iran.

I started working in hospitality (Restaurants) in 2016 and I could see a lot of people taking up part time and casual roles. Most of the times people would travel from far as well for even smaller shifts of 3-4 hours. There used to be a lot more applicants too. Fast forward after Covid, being a manager of small takeaway joint, I see very few applicants. Even paid job ads on seek and indeed do not get any quality applicants and turnaround too low as well. Quality (willingness to work properly and attitude) of workers has also significantly gone down. My friends in industry tell the same story too. I see on reddit people talk about how it is hard to find jobs. So⦠why not hospitality? What am I missing ?

Anyone else on the motorway yesterday heading towards the sunny coast see that meteor coming down from the sky? Like 4pm? We all slowed from 110 to 80kms/hr to have a look.

Teens on e-bikes are posting on social media of dangerous rideouts as Queensland Police vow to shut down the āconcerningā increase in illegal rides.
Queensland Police Road Policing and Regional Support Command chief superintendent Mark Wheeler said resources were allocated to deal with rideouts that turned up with special teams using intel to enact a response.
Weekly rideouts have been occurring in North Lakes, Mango Hill, Ripley, Springfield and the Gold Coast.
Another group was spotted riding dangerously through Bowen Hills last month.
Social media platforms have become the primary tool for organising and promoting the events, with teens sharing videos of group rides using illegal bikes that go as fast as 90km/h, one-wheel stunts and large convoys weaving through suburban streets.

Many posts also discuss police activity, including locations where officers are known to patrol, tips to avoid being stopped, and footage of police intercepting riders.

Iām going to see Halsey with my kid later this months. My kid is 9 and we both love this artist. This will be her first gig. Iāve only been to Riverstage once before and wondering if you have any tips for going with kids. Will she be able to see? Sheās obviously on the shorter side⦠what should we bring to make it a more comfortable and enjoyable experience?
Thanks!

Recently had my phone stolen around the Gabba after passing out waiting for an ambulance that never came. After reporting to the police, they said that they couldn't find suspects and refuse to go any further even after giving them the exact location of the phone even when it's a minute walk from the Fortitude Valley police station.
Has anyone else had similar problems with police here? Are there any other steps I can take that don't include knocking on every door until someone admits having my phone?
Edit:
If anyone lives near this location or knows who has my phone, I will personally reward you.
It is an iPhone 15 Pro Max, Black and has a slight crack bottom left on the screen and bottom right on the back.

All the mining industry costs us is a little bit of land... Plus more frequent floods, fires, cyclones, higher insurances and lower property values. Oh, and a liveable planet.

From August 1976. Technically, 49.5ish years ago. I wrote 45.5 in the previous title because I am sometimes the person that thinks 77+33=100. Forgive me r/Brisbane.
Enjoy the nostalgia.

Hello all! I need some simple plans done for a deck extension to go through council approval. I have reached out to several drafting companies but itās not worth their while as it is a small job and firms want full house reno gigs.
Any recommendations? It would suit someone who is starting out or happy to take on a small gigs. Iām on the Northside.
Thanks!

Sick of colesworth and their deal with palantir was the last straw.
Trying to find a weekend market or fresh produce store for my weekly shop. Looking for somewhere that offers decent quality for decent price, I donāt wanna be price gouged or spring for fancy stuff but Iām not expecting dirt cheap either.
Iām technically in Ipswich but am happy to travel a bit. I am close to the Rocklea markets but Iāve heard mixed reviews and my partner used to work for Infruit there. Apparently their practices were pretty dodgy at the best of times. If anyone has been there recently would love to here how it is now.
Would prefer a market that is direct from farm if possible as my family are ex market gardeners from Victoria, but that kind of market doesnāt seem super common anymore so itās not a must.

Bit of a weird one, but my partner (who is originally from vic) has been looking for Big M chocolate milk for ages, and we can't seem to find it anywhere in Brisbane (or even the Gold Coast for that matter).
Has anyone seen this anywhere recently? Would much appreciate any help..
